Southern Brooklyn is shifting
Something historic is happening south of Prospect Park. Chinese-American voters in Bensonhurst, Sunset Park and Bath Beach; Russian-speaking families in Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay; Orthodox Jewish communities in Borough Park — the neighborhoods that built Brooklyn are building its Republican future.
The New York Times documented it: in the Chinatown area, the Democratic share of the vote fell from 79% in 2016 to 64% in 2022. In 2022 Brooklyn flipped three Assembly seats. In 2024, Steve Chan took the State Senate. This is not a moment — it's a realignment.
